Works great!

Good coverage, easy to use

Great App

it was a Great help during my 4 weeks Australia trip. The only thing I missed was a function to arrange the Map to North while navigation.

Very nice - everything you need

Only 4 stars as it crashes if it comes to toll roads

Its great

Theres not much to say. It does what it should and its free...

Great App

I have used Navfree for a while now. The fact that the maps are stored locally is great especially when roaming. With the negative fact that Apple does not provide for removable storage the app works fine. The change to individual apps for each country is differant but I still like the way the app works.

Bad up-down grade

Lost all my favorites and crashes continuously especially when navigating in cities. Could not find any improvement so stay with previous version, a shame apple cannot return to a previous version.

Map good, usage very fiddly

Good features on map, but addresses are not properly linked to suburb which means you have to search only by street. User interface not at all intuitive, and the map behaves differently in route and non-route mode. Many normal gps features lacking-: setting north up, having the car always in the middle (it disappears off screen and you have to find it!), cannot refine address, eg add house number, and text remains small even when you enlarge the scale, and is impossible to read in night mode, etc. Great promise, lots of programming work yet to do.

Very good offline map

Better if it has POI feature

Good

For free this works very well, had it for a couple of weeks and the navigation is at least as good as tom-tom etc, re routing is quick if a different street is taken to avoid traffic etc. The only downfall is finding locations, if you use built in navigate to it usually cant find it BUT if you use the built in google search it works fine. Overall I now use this instead of my tom-tom so I think its very good, 5 stars if the inbuilt navigate to address worked, but the google function works well. Update.....this has had problems this last week instructing me to turn into a bus only road and later on saying turn right where there was a No Right Turn sign clearly displayed. Use this with caution.

Worked well in Australia and New Zealand

Just got back from two weeks in and about Perth, Australia, and Auckland, New Zealand. I didnt have high expectations for this app, but it just worked great! It both met and exceeded my expectations. Highly recommended!

MM

Ive just returned from our Christmas holiday in Australia and I sorely relied on this app for driving around with my family. This was our first time to Australia and so we needed to have a reliable GPS app and this application was fantastic!! It met all our navigation requirements right down to the last destination. The fact that its free is amazing!! We used it in Sydney, Brisbane and the Gold Coast without any problems. The option for voice guidance made navigation that much easier.

Awesome free navigation

I would have given this 5 stars but you have to have Internet to enter a destination. It works great but add any possible destinations as favorite while you have Internet then you can route to them easily. Otherwise, you cant even enter an address without Internet which I dont understand as the maps are on board. Otherwise its a awesome app especially given the price. I would pay for the ability to enter addresses.

Great App

i am from the US and just visited New Zealand and used this app as our main map to get around the North Island. I wish you could search a city or address with out GPS but overall it worked really well.

The price is right, but...

The maps are attractive, and the app (re)calculates routes very quickly. The spoken directions are very clear -- I particularly like the UK English mans voice -- but there is no text-to-speech feature so street names are not spoken. Limitations: 1. The app cannot correlate street numbers with a position on the map. When searching for an address, it sometimes cannot even find a street that is shown on the map. When adding destinations to my favorites list, I sometimes have to use the "pin" function to manually specify a position, then save it as a favorite. 2. It has difficulty determining which exit to use at a roundabout. At a simple crossroads, it told me to take the second exit instead of the third when I needed to turn right (in a right-hand drive country). 3. It is clueless when it comes to calculating arrival time. If you need to know in advance how long it will take to complete a route, then use Google Maps. If you need ETA updates while you drive, good luck with that. The app seems not to know anything about what constitutes a reasonable average speed for each section of a route.

Works great

Just finished 2 weeks in Australia using this app an it works nearly as well as my Garmin does in the USA . It works well with points of interest but could be improved where putting in am exact address is concerned. That works great if you have Internet access and in fact out performs my Garmin in that case. Finding small towns was easy using the city center feature under POI.

sort of a nightmare

new user: Cannot enter GPS coordinates. Google Search does not find things that web Google Search finds... inconsistent results. Found an item in Google and added it to Favorites but it did not show up. Cannot find long-standing major streets/roads Searches always start from scratch... cannot get back to search results. Cannot edit Google search field... just clears it out App just does total boot start after closing its window. Update: I did not think you could run down an iPhone battery as fast as this does! Even when the app is closed/background. I had to delete it.

Best offline map for visiting New Zealand

This map was awesome for driving throughout New Zealand, especially when outside of 3G coverage in rural areas where Google Maps was unavailable (ie. most of the South Island).

stupendous app

Cant praise this app enough. Just spent one month in Australia, and one month in New Zealand, and Navfree bailed us out many times. Thats a plus when youre concentrating on driving on the left side of the road in a strange environment. It works offline, just had my iPads location services enabled. Many thanks to the software developers for this one. Highly recommended.

Disappointing

Visited NZ from the U.S. and tried this app but found it hard to use in Auckland. Mainly because of the districts in the city - NavFree made it difficult to find a street in a district if you were not familiar with district/area names. Bought TomTom NZ and it was great - no problems at all getting round Auckland and the rest of the North Island as well as touring the South Island
